Crowdfunding for the social sector

Supporting Critical Funding for European Social Economy and the 3rd Sector

About

About the Project

The SUCCESS project aimed to support the European Social Economy and the 3rd Sector by addressing the challenges they faced in adopting crowdfunding as a specialized form of fundraising. Crowdfunding had emerged as an innovative method of securing funds, but the 3rd Sector and Social Economy encountered difficulties in adapting to this funding strategy. They lacked ICT skills, basic knowledge of crowdfunding, and faced specific governance issues that hindered their ability to embrace this concept. As the traditional cash collections dwindled, it became crucial for these sectors to quickly adapt to the new electronic-based economy.

Recognizing the need for alternative funding options, the project aimed to provide innovative tools for social enterprises across Europe. Its goal was to help them navigate the economic threats and generate outreach and community building among their target audiences.

SUCCESS sought to transfer the understanding and knowledge of crowdfunding across Europe while developing free and accessible resources for learners, educators, and vocational education and training (VET) experts. These resources aimed to offer practical solutions to the sector's specific challenges. The project aimed to create web-based learning packages that guide the sector through the process of campaign planning, building a strong social media presence, and maximizing the chances of success.

The project published case studies showcasing successful crowdfunding campaigns and conducted a longitudinal study to assess the impact of the materials created on 3rd Sector organizations, individuals, educators, and VET experts as they embarked on their crowdfunding journey.
